Type of water-leaks- Hole due to rusted area
- Puncture or fracture ( possibly due to crash impact)
- Crack /micro crack very tiny pinhole leak (possibly in imperfect welds)
- Inadequate sealing between components or parts joined together
- wearing out of faucet washers causes water to leak at the faucets
- Wearing out of packing around a turning valve stem or rotating centrifugal pump shaft could develop into fluid outleakage into the environment
Leak testingTo discover the leak in the new system a leak test must be conducted to fix it if any, this test by filling the system with water and pressurize it for limit time and watch the pressure decay. To locate the leak normally used a color dyes to see the leak.Other method using saline water and test the leaked water quality to identify the leak location.
Corrective action for leaks Leaks are often repaired by plugging the leaking holes or using a patch to cover them. Leaking gaskets, seals, washers, or packing can be replaced. Use of welding, soldering, sealing, or gluing may be other ways to fix leaks.
