Cooling-system... How important for industries
Introduction for Cooling-system
Many commercial and industrial processes depend on Cooling-system to maintain temperature in a designated range. The one most people are familiar with is building cooling (HVAC systems), but many important industrial processes also require cooling towers such as electrical power generation.
Coolers, How its work
Cooling towers use the principle of evaporative cooling to reduce the temperature of water. The human body uses the same principle, as we heat up we sweat, as this water evaporates from the surface of our skin we cool down. In a building the air conditioning system uses cooling heat transfer fluid to carry heat from inside the building to the outside. This fluid in turn needs to be cooled so it can return to the building and pick up more heat. Water is used for this purpose. The cooling water is then taken to a cooling tower where it is allowed to evaporate cooling the water so it in turn can lower the temperature of the heat transfer fluid used inside the building. This is important in oil refineries, power stations and chemical plants.
Types of cooling-system
These come in two main styles. - A closed loop system pumps a fluid mixed with condition additives, which are held at a specific pressure and temperature, between the system and the tool in a continuous cycle.
Along the way, the fluid travels through pumps, valves, and a condenser. - Open loop industrial refrigeration equipment pumps the liquid from a large tank through the system and back to the tank in order to keep things cool.
These systems often use water, but they can also use air to cool.
Alternative cooling systems
- Portable misting fans should be considered if you are looking for a cooling system that not only cools, but is environmental-friendly and highly efficient. The many features of the misting fan allow you to use it according to your preferences.
- What is free cooling and how can it save you money and help with the environment. Well free cooling is an economic method of using low external air temperatures to help with chilling the water, it also can then be used for an industrial process. Or with the air conditioning systems.
Coolers Design main factors
- Make-up Water Quality (Hardness, COD Levels)
- Dead Spots in the Circulation System
- Water Temperature
- Materials of Construction
Cooling tower location
- Locate cooling towers far from fresh air intakes and windows that can be opened
- Consider prevailing wind direction and don't locate upwind or upstream of outdoor public areas.
- Don't locate in areas that can contribute debris and organic material.
- Consider future construction, including that on nearby sites.
Cooling sytem Maintenance
Yes it is a hassle to perform this important but uninterested maintenance task, maintenance crew will rank it in the bottom of the To Do List, but unfortunately if maintenance keep delayed the same task the cooling system equipment will operate with low efficiency which affects the process plant productivity. The production process plant will not be receiving the required cooling (due to cooling system fouling, chocking, corrosion….etc) The drop in the production level will cost the business thousands or more of dollars to repair failed systems, down time and Lost of production.
