Brackish-water & Sea water Treatment

Brackish-water and sea water RO systems typically consist of:

    • Coarse filtration
    • Fine filters
    • High pressure pump
    • BW-RO-membranes in pressure vessels
    • Chemical dosing system
    • CIP- System (“Cleaning in Place")
    • Switchboard PLC- controlled

Coarse filtration for Brackish-water and sea water

Is a multi media filter consisted of layers of

        • Carbon to remove any bad smell
        • Sand to remove any suspended particles
        • Gravels work as support media

      Fine filters

The fine filters used to hold any fine particles which bypassed from coarse filters, to insure particles free raw water introduced to RO membrane block.

      High pressure pump

The pump supplies the pressure needed to push the feed water (clean brackish water) through the membrane, Typical pressures for brackish water range from 225 to 375 lbf/in˛

      BW-RO-membranes in pressure vessels

The membrane assembly consists of a pressure vessel with a membrane that allows feed water to be pressed against it. RO membranes are made in a variety of configurations, with the two most common configurations being spiral-wound and a hollow-fiber.Membrane made from cellulose acetate as an integrally skinned asymmetric semi-permeable, allow certain molecules or ions to pass through it The rate of passage depends on the pressure, concentration, and temperature of the molecules or solutes on either side.Membrane have a dense barrier layer in the polymer matrix where most separation occurs

      Chemical dosing system

Chemical dosing in RO system before membrane stage such as, chlorine, bisulfite and biofouling inhibitors to achieve following:

        • Dosing antiscalants to avoid salt scaling in the membrane surface
        • Dosing chlorine to kill bacteria
        • Dosing biofouling inhibitors to avoid bacteria to growing slime on the membrane surface

and dosing after the membrane stage (post treatment) to achieve the following:

          • Dosing lime to prevent corrosion in the piping systems up to end user
          • Dosing chlorine or pass through UV(ultraviolet) for disinfection the water supply up to end user.

          Cleaning in Place

Cleaning in place system is integrated with RO system to washout the fouled materials on the surface of the membrane.Fouling affect the production performance from quantity and quality point view, the cleaning process is a periodical activity to keep the production consistent quantity and quality.

          Switchboard PLC- controlled

PLC is a electronic control system to control the operation of the plant, also it works to protect the plant in case of any emergency cases or miss operation action by human.
